Typical for zinocolino’s artworks is the diversity of the used materials. My works are seldom made on canvas. Generally my works are created on hard panels (wood, MDF, metal, multiplex, fiberboard,….), sometimes on cardboard or paper. Besides the more classic artist-paints I frequently use industrial paints (alkyd- and acrylpaint, synthetical enamel, polyurethanpaint,….). Occasionally this paint is combined with structural elements as cord, hardened pieces of paint, brass-wire, gum, sand, etc.
Anything can give rise to the creation of a work. It is mostly inspired by an event, a thought or memory or a state-of-mind trying to visualize the accompanying imagination and emotions……..detached from all forms of rationality. Hereby I aim at creating a dynamic way of art. Paint and structure are not will-less, on the contrary…..they get their rights, they get a say. Therefore the “subject” is only important as far as it is the impulse to start the creation of a work.
By the total absence of reason and not impedet by a hunt for recognizable forms or objects, the works come as it were with a “code”. The spectator is forced to a greater effort than by the observation of the bare reality. In consequence these works are never a “finality” but an invitation to “taking in”, in the hope that this will generate feelings and emotions, whatever they may be……
